CORONAVIRUS PRECAUTIONS TO KEEP OUR CLIENTS, STAFF, AND VOLUNTEERS SAFE

As dedicated supporters of Lifelong, we wanted you to know how our organization is responding to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) and the effect it may have on our services and clients. The people our organization serves are our highest priority and we will continue to do everything we can to get them the food, housing, and case management services they need while taking the utmost precaution for the health and safety of our clients, staff, and volunteers.

Enhanced Precautions and Sanitation Efforts
Our clients are medically vulnerable and rely on Lifelong to help meet their basic needs and achieve their best possible health. We are continuing to provide that vital care while implementing the following precautions to ensure that everyone we serve remains safe:

For home delivered food, we are ensuring that all delivery drivers carry hand sanitizer to be used both before and after each delivery. Drivers will also leave bags of meals on doorsteps instead of having direct contact.

At all of our offices, we have enhanced our sanitation procedures to disinfect hard surfaces every few hours, including the lobby areas, kitchens, door knobs, counters, and other community areas as well as desktops, computers, and phones. We have ample hand-sanitizer, tissues, and plenty of soap on hand at all times, encouraging everyone to wash their hands every hour.

We are in contact with local health officials and are monitoring any recommended changes to avoid putting our clients, staff, and volunteers at higher risk for infection. More information about the general response effort to COVID-19 in Seattle and King County can be found here.

Combating Discrimination
Lifelong is saddened to hear that some Asian communities have been targeted in connection to COVID-19. We are committed to a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment and do not tolerate hate speech or acts of discrimination. Please help our community to be compassionate and prevent stigmatization by sharing accurate information. The virus is not connected to any race, ethnicity, or nationality and misinformation can generate fear and hostility that harms people and makes it harder to keep everyone healthy. Visit Public Health Seattle and King County for resources on how to help combat discrimination.

As always, we are incredibly grateful for the continued support and investment that you have made in the health of your most vulnerable neighbors. During this time of angst around the virus, we are doing our best to remain a place of support and consistency for our clients and we appreciate you keeping them in your thoughts.

We will update you when the need arises and if you have any questions please email us. Thank you so much for everything you do for our shared community.
