Volunteer Job Descriptions
Gay Bingo
Commitment: Weekend Evening, monthly late afternoon-late evening.
Report to: Event Coordinator
Basic Function: Event support for Gay Bingo, a high-energy fundraiser for Lifelong AIDS Alliance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Set-Up: Decorate the hall and move tables/chairs.
• Clean Up: Separating recycling, gathering garbage, taking down decorations, sweeping and putting away tables and chairs.
These opportunities are available for volunteers age 21 and over only:
• Food Court: Sell food and non-alcoholic drinks
• Usher: Greet bingo players and help them locate their seats
• Marketplace: Sell special games, t-shirts, and Gay Bingo merchandise. Make change, interact with the bingo players, and work with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Ability to work as a team player and follow directions
• Must be prompt and reliable
• Ability to lift 30 lbs.
• Comfortable working with people of varying socioeconomic backgrounds, sexual orientations and racial diversity.
Dining Out For Life Ambassador
Commitment: 4-6 hours during the event, depending on restaurant hours.
Basic Function: Act as a representative to a participating Dining Out For Life restaurant.
It has been proven time and time again that the Dining Out For Life restaurants that have volunteer ambassadors raise the most money. Invite your friends and family to dine at your restaurant the night of the event, welcome patrons and explain the event to them, answer questions about Lifelong AIDS Alliance, and distribute raffle envelopes. At the end of the night, return the donation box to Lifelong AIDS Alliance and go home exhausted, but satisfied that you had a good time and helped a great cause!
Volunteers must be able to stand for 4-6 hours, be knowledgeable about Lifelong’s mission and services and be comfortable approaching patrons in a restaurant environment.
