The AIDS crisis CAN end
Join the CAN Network at www.cannetwork.net
You can have a direct impact on the legislation passed in Olympia and Washington, DC by signing up for Lifelong’s Communities in Action Network (CAN) and informing your elected officials about where you stand on issues. As a member, you get to participate in the process of creating new policies and help prioritize the needs of people living with HIV/AIDS.
The CAN Network is an Internet-based network of advocates and organizations across the Pacific Northwest. Through CAN, we advocate for sound HIV/AIDS policies and public funding for vital programs. Through our combined voices, we make sure our representatives don’t overlook HIV/AIDS issues. Help us fight AIDS by building a bigger, stronger HIV/AIDS advocacy movement in Washington State.
Why advocate?
In spite of what you may have heard, elected officials do listen to their constituents. Every time you contact your legislator, you’re speaking for more than just yourself. Research shows us that:
• Each time a constituent calls or e-mails a legislator’s office, one dozen others in that district feel equally strong about the issue.
• Each time a constituent writes a letter to a legislator’s office, two dozen others feel equally strong about the issue.
• Each time a constituent visits a legislator’s office, several dozen other feel equally strong about the issue.
Speaking up makes a difference!
