Client Spotlight: Robert Evans

Robert EvansRobert Evans has been HIV-positive for 14 years. HIV has affected every aspect of his life-- he constantly suffers from extreme HIV fatigue, which can leave him so exhausted he can’t do anything. He also suffers from migraine headaches on a weekly basis, has difficulty eating a full meal, and must use a fly fishing tackle box as a pill box because it’s the only thing large enough to hold all of his medications.

Too tired and often too sick to work, Evans was forced to leave his job and go on disability three years ago. He turned to Lifelong for help with food, housing, and Social Security. And when his situation left him suicidal, Lifelong was there to get him into therapy.

“Lifelong means life to me,” said Evans. “I wouldn’t have one if they didn’t exist. Whenever I was feeling lost or hopeless, Lifelong was there to stand beside me. They really were my light in the darkness. I only hope that someday I will be able to volunteer at Lifelong and help others as I have been helped.”
