Food Is Medicine

Lifelong is committed to the principle that food is medicine: reliable access to nutritious foods not only alleviates food insecurity, it leads to improved health outcomes for people living with chronic illnesses, including HIV and AIDS. Programs that provide medically-tailored, home-delivered meals, like Chicken Soup Brigade, are essential to protecting and improving the health and wellbeing of the clients enrolled. From September 2014 to February 2015 Lifelong was honored to host an Emerson Hunger Fellow, whose work focused on making the case that food is medicine.
