Client Spotlight: Glen McGear

Glen McGearWhen Glen McGear found out he was HIV-positive in 1990, it came as a shock. Nothing can prepare someone for a diagnosis that quite literally changes the rest of their lives. He quickly learned that it was not the end of his life, though, and that he deserved just as much dignity and respect as anyone else.

Since then, McGear has been very ill twice and can no longer work. Friends encouraged him to go to Lifelong for help and hope.

“I have a wonderful case manager that assists me with the endless amount of paperwork that I have to do just to live,” said McGear. He has also received housing assistance and weekly meals and groceries from Lifelong’s Chicken Soup Brigade.

“I am very grateful for the staff, volunteers and services that Lifelong has provided for myself, among countless others,” said McGear. “My quality of life has been greatly enriched because of Lifelong.”
