Every two years, advocates from across Washington State gather in Olympia to educate state lawmakers about the need for HIV/AIDS prevention and care services in our state. 2009 will be a critical year for HIV and AIDS advocates - Washington State Legislature will be faced with a $3.3 million budget deficit.
Let’s make sure our elected officials in Olympia understand why our community can’t afford to lose critical programs serving people living with and at risk for HIV/AIDS.

Frequently Asked Questions
What if I’ve never lobbied before?
You aren’t alone—most people haven’t! We will create “buddy systems” of experienced and novice lobbyists and give you information about the issues. You just add the personal touch and tell your story! Additionally, we will give registered participants an opportunity to sign up for one of several conference call trainings in January.
Do I have to disclose my HIV status?
No—your presence alone makes a difference. AIDS Awareness & Action Day brings together both people living with HIV/AIDS and their allies.
How do I get to Olympia?
We will distribute maps and directions among all registered participants at least three weeks prior to the event. Limited transportation and hotel stipends will be available to participants traveling over 120 miles. Bus transportation will be available the day of the event from Everett, Seattle, potentially Tacoma and Bremerton -- participants who register before February 1st will have a guaranteed seat on the bus; last-minute registrants will be seated on a first-come, first-serve basis.
In 2007 more than 260 AIDS advocates from 42 of Washington State’s 49 legislative districts joined us in Olympia and advocated for HIV/AIDS issues.
